Freshwater Microfauna Seeding & Reseeding Kit

Because microfauna is as important in freshwater as it is in marine water, we have designed a tailor-made kit for your freshwater aquarium.

Freshwater microfauna does not appear on its own; it must be seeded into the aquarium. This kit allows you to establish freshwater microfauna during various stages of your aquarium's life, such as startup, reset, relocation, tank upgrade, or when adding new plants or delicate fish. The live microfauna will settle into the substrate and filter media, regardless of the filter type (internal or external), promoting beautiful plants and a healthy aquarium. Microfauna is an essential and indispensable complement to your aquarium's filtration. We recommend using the reseeding kit for regular maintenance every 3 months.

One might think that adding bacteria is enough for an aquarium, yet microfauna is just as important. Beneficial aspects include the detritivorous role of the microfauna, the natural cycle it brings by recreating the food web, and the natural food source it provides for your fish. Furthermore, it breaks down organic matter and waste into microscopic particles, thereby easing the work of the bacteria.

In this kit, you will find a bottle of Daphnia & Microfauna containing daphnia, cyclops, ostracods, etc., as well as a bottle of Bactofresh, which serves as a complement to nourish and develop the microfauna in the aquarium.

Kit composition:

This kit contains a bottle of Daphnia & Microfauna and a bottle of Bactofresh.

The bottle of live Daphnia & Microfauna contains daphnia, ostracods, cyclops, rotifers, and other microorganisms invisible to the naked eye.

We harvest egg-bearing microfauna, meaning they are ready to lay eggs to seed your aquarium or pond. Our strains, which are particularly resistant to extreme temperatures and transport, are specifically cultivated organically.

Bactofresh is a high-quality, broad-spectrum live bacteria concentrate dedicated to your freshwater aquarium.

Choosing the right size:

• A 20 to 250-liter aquarium corresponds to the 250 ml kit.
• A 250 to 500-liter aquarium corresponds to the 500 ml kit.
• A 500-liter aquarium and above corresponds to the 1000 ml kit.

Instructions for use and advice:

1. Upon receipt of your bottle of Daphnia & Live Microfauna, pour the entire contents into the aquarium when your fish are sleeping.

   Bring the bottle to room temperature before pouring it into the aquarium.

2. For Bactofresh, refer to the dosage instructions on the bottle.

If you have heavy predation in your aquarium, visible microfauna like daphnia may be immediately consumed by your fish, but smaller microfauna such as ostracods and cyclops will not be eaten.

Note: Cyclops serve as food for a large number of animals, such as fish and fry. They are an especially important food source because of their rapid reproduction. They are therefore a key component of aquatic food webs.

Storage:

Bactofresh should be stored at room temperature and away from light. Preferably, any opened bottle should be used continuously without interruption.

Daphnia & Live Microfauna must be used upon receipt. If not, the bottle should be stored in the refrigerator.

To optimize the preservation of the live microfauna, we recommend that if the bottle is not used immediately, you leave the cap open to constantly oxygenate the microfauna or aerate it once a day.
